Societal Partnership and the Relevant Areas of Research in the Sultanate of Oman

Abstract
The current research aims to monitor the nature of societal partnership and the relevant areas of research in the Sultanate of Oman in order to identify the most important business sectors eligible for the formation of genuine partnerships with research centers. This research will highlight the most important challenges facing the process of establishing such a partnership. The research adopts a descriptive approach in which the social survey method is used to monitor the phenomenon, and a measurement tool is used to measure the extent of partnership and its challenges. The research findings include the following: There is a growing awareness of the importance of partnership and this is evident in the establishment of a number of research chairs. There is also a growing number of research contracts and consultancy and training. This study reveals that there exist a number of challenges facing community partnership in research. The main sources of these challenges are bureaucracy, ineffectiveness of marketing and advertising research outcomes, lack of coordination and communication between the production sector and the research sector, lack of confidence of business community in university research, and the lack of investment in research. The research concludes with a number of recommendations for activating the process of community partnership in research
